Bob Ostertag has released two films, though his main work in cinema has been in cinema as live performance. Living Cinema, his project with Quebecois animator Pierre Hébert, has performed at film festivals around the world, including Rotterdam, Nice, Montreal, and San Francisco, at music or theater festivals in Scotland, England, and Germany, at music festivals in Paris and Rome, and at modern art museums in San Francisco (SF MoMA), Tokyo, Beirut, and Monterry, Mexico. Living Cinema has also release two films, Between Science and Garbage and Portrait of Buddha. They have been awarded a Meet the Composer International Collaboration Commission and a Prix de la Creation Artistique du Conseil des Arts et des Lettres de Quebec. Ostertag is also rumored to have connections to the shadowy media guerrilla group The Yes Men, whose film The Yes Men premiered at Sundance and was distributed in mainstream movie theaters by United Artists. In March 2006 Ostertag made all of his recordings to which he owns the rights available as free digital downloads under a Creative Commons license.
