Uses film and other media to explore the distance between common and scientific knowledge and to investigate the intersection between speculative fiction and autobiography. His latest trilogy of experimental shorts examine hearing loss and tinnitus, a constant ringing in the human ear. He also has an ongoing collaboration with Torsten Zenas Burns creating artworks about imagined educational practices. Their net art site, Lesson Stalls: learning net, was commissioned by Electronic Arts Intermix and can be found at http://www.eai.org/lessons. His solo and collaborative films have screened and exhibited at film festivals and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Arts, Pacific Film Archives, European Media Art Festival, Oberhausen Short Film Festival, New York Video Festival, Madrid Museum of Contemporary Art, and Paris/Berlin International. Martin's work is distributed by the Kitchen in New York, Video Data Bank in Chicago, and Vtape in Toronto. He occasionally curates video screenings at a variety of venues; most recently for the 21st Stuttgart's Filmwinter Festival in Germany.
