ANDY JONES is a Lecturer in the University Writing Program as well as the faculty liaison to the Teaching Resources Center and to Academic Technology Services. The son of a theater and film director and the longtime film critic for the CBS affiliate in Washington DC, Andy grew up attending and talking about movies. Andy uses film in his writing and literature classes, and has advised student filmmakers on plot and dialogue in "Writing Across Media," which he teaches every winter for the Technocultural Studies Program. At UC Davis Andy has taught Film Theory and Criticism, The Beat Generation in Literature and Film, and an individual study on film as a means to understanding and coping with catastrophe. A longtime proponent of local and independent media, Andy has interviewed filmmakers and screenwriting gurus such as Paul Mazursky, John Putch, and Syd Field on his KDVS radio show, "Dr. Andy's Poetry and Technology Hour."
